5 star experience. This immersive rainforest experience is extremely well put together. From pickup at the airport to the activities at the lodge, we felt well taken care of our entire stay. The rooms have 3 walls, making it incredibly easy to connect with nature within the comfort of your room (we spent a lot of time in our hammock next to the open wall), while still having most amenities you'd expect from a hotel. Our guide, Jhordy A, was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable, taking us on many activities to see giant river otters, howler monkeys, and much more. Highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in an authentic rainforest experience!
Note: do not expect the same type of experience as a normal hotel. This is an immersive experience and due to the open wall in rooms you will find moths, frogs, lizards, and other small creatures in your room from time to time. The climate inside the room will be the same as outside, but the mosquito nets will keep the bugs completely off you while you sleep. It took us about a day to get used to, but wasn't a hard adjustment.

If you want to know what it is like in the jungle, this is the place to come. Amazing scenery, wildlife, and knowledgeable guides.
To get the most out of the experience prepare for some early starts and early bedtimes.
A fantastic few days which I won't forget in a hurry.

Wonderful place! Accommodation is excellent, accommodation staff are friendly and helpful, and the guides are amazing. Our guide was Jorge, we loved his sense of humour and his encyclopedia knowledge of his local area was impressive. I felt at peace here, very relaxed.

It gives a great insight into the jungle. We had a great visit. I recommend going during the dry season. Our guide Luis M. was excellent! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, kind and a gentleman. Bear in mind it's going to be hot and humid with some mosquitos. It's a jungle out there!

We would like to thank you warmly for our stay at your lodge on the Tambopata River – this part of our two-month journey through Peru and Bolivia left a particularly lasting impression on us.
The transfer itself was already a good sign of your team's professionalism: the tightly scheduled trip from Puerto Maldonado to the lodge – timed to arrive before nightfall, with a guide waiting for us and a smooth journey by bus and boat – went completely smoothly despite our tight connecting flights.
Everything on site convinced us as well: comfortable accommodation right in the middle of the rainforest, good food, and a well-structured, packed excursion programme with tours in the early morning, afternoon and at night. We were thrilled every single time by what we got to see.
We'd especially like to highlight our guide Jordi: his knowledge of the flora and fauna, along with his patience in tracking down wildlife, made our stay truly special. Equally impressive was the state of the forest itself – untouched, clean, and home to an intact ecosystem ranging from big cats down to the macaws. It's clear how much care and responsibility goes into looking after this place.
We can recommend the lodge without reservation and would return at any time. It was definitely worth the admittedly long journey to reach it.
For people who love and appreciate nature—and who realize that the resort isn't located in Dubai (with all the trappings that entails)—a stay comes highly recommended. As for the complainers, they are welcome to stay home or vacation in Myrtle Beach.

We had the most incredible stay at Posada Amazonas. Going in, we were a little nervous about the open-air rooms and weren't quite sure what to expect — but we were completely blown away by our four days here. Yes, there's the usual discomfort that comes with the tropical forest (heat, insects, living in DEET 24/7), but this was genuinely one of the best experiences of our lives, and we can't recommend this lodge enough.
The service was impeccable from the moment we arrived, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the wildlife right around the lodge grounds was incredible.
Then there's our guide, Joss. We feel so lucky to have had him — his passion for wildlife was obvious, and he struck the perfect balance of giving the group recommendations while always letting us choose which activities we wanted to do. He brought his own spotting scope along, which took the experience to another level. If we had one piece of feedback for the lodge, it would be to equip all guides with spotting scopes rather than leaving it up to individuals to bring their own, so every guest gets that same experience. We invited Joss to join us for dinner on our last night, and it was such a highlight that we wish we'd known sooner it was an option — we would have invited him every night.
If you're on the fence about staying here because of the open rooms or being deep in the Amazon, don't be — just book it. We were going to stay in Puerto Maldonado and do day tours from there but decided to spend the extra money to stay at this lodge, boy was it worth it!!

We stayed at the Tambopata Research Center in mid-September 2026, and it was genuinely one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Peru. If you are looking for an immersive Amazon experience, I cannot recommend it enough.
We did the clay lick, canopy walk, night walk, bamboo walk and sunset cruise, and saw an incredible variety of wildlife, including macaws, countless species of birds, monkeys, insects, etc. We even came back from one of our tours one day to find a huge bushmaster snake right at the lodge.
Our guide, Carmen, was absolutely fabulous. She was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and clearly passionate about the Amazon. She could identify animals from what seemed like miles away just by hearing them! She gave us excellent recommendations about which tours to do, which was particularly helpful because what you see can vary significantly depending on the season and weather. She even combined tours for us based on what we were most interested in seeing, which made the experience feel very personalised.
I have seen a few reviews complaining that people didn’t see the wildlife they specifically wanted to see. I think it is important to remember that this is the Amazon. Wildlife cannot be summoned on demand. If you want a guaranteed sighting of a particular animal, go to a zoo! Part of what makes this experience so special is that you simply don’t know what you are going to encounter. The guides and staff do an excellent job of respecting the wildlife, and the tour groups are kept relatively small, which makes a huge difference because you get much more out of the experience than you would in a large group.
A few practical tips for anyone considering TRC:
Arrive later in the day if you can. We were on the first flight from Cusco and ended up waiting around three hours at the main office for the second group to arrive. It wasn’t particularly unpleasant as there is food available, Wi-Fi and charging points, but after that you still have roughly a 1.5-hour bus journey and three-hour boat ride ahead of you. It made for a very long travel day.
Be prepared for the luggage situation. You cannot take a large suitcase onto the boat, so you will need to leave it at the main office. The staff are very helpful about this and will ask you to repack what you need for the lodge and provide duffel bags. You also cannot wear boots around the lodge, so make sure you bring a pair of sandals or flip-flops.
Bring binoculars! The guides have telescopes, but having your own binoculars makes a huge difference. This is especially true at the clay lick, where you are sitting roughly 300 metres away from the macaws. We didn’t bring a pair with us, and it would have been nicer to be able to look whenever we wanted rather than waiting for the telescope to become available.
Be prepared for the realities of being in the Amazon. There will be bugs in your room, but the staff keep the rooms very clean and set up the mosquito nets for you each night. You can definitely hear your neighbors, so be mindful of your volume throughout the day and particularly at night. The lodge provides earplugs, which I would recommend using or bringing your own as the rainforest can be quite active overnight. We were actually woken up one morning by howler monkeys, and they are really loud!

We stayed here for 2.5 days. The stay was memorable indeed. The weather during our stay was great. The resort has a lot of interesting itineraries, A river cruise, visit to Oxbow lake to see River Otters, Macaw clay lick, view the forest canopy from a 140 ft tall tower early in the morning, a night walk through the forest etc. the Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner ( all included ) was fantastic. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly.

We had a great experience in the Amazon jungle. Everything from the beginning to the end was perfectly organized from Rainforest company. The Posada Amazonas Lodge exceeded our expectations - the rooms, the food and service were really amaizing having in mind that you are in the middle of the jungle.
Our guide Jorge was super kind, very informative and put all efforts to make our tours great, special thanks for him from our group! Also the other guides and staff were nice and communicative.
We saw a lot of animals and plant species.
I hope we will return there again someday!
Thank you for the good time!

A truly great experience, it was actually booked for me so I had no idea what I was in for but it's incredible. The excursions, the food, the learning opportunities and on site scientists all make for an incredible time. It's also small and intimate. Yeah you can hear your neighbours in the rooms but you can also hear the jungle and swing in a hammock completely open to it, or have breakfast whilst monkeys climb over you. Also a huge shout out to our man Brian on the bar, absolute legend who smiled through our annoying requests and nonsense.
Peru Amazon tours: river cruise in the north or jungle lodge in the south?
Covering over 60% of the nation’s landmass (roughly 782,880 km²), the rainforest is home to just 5% of the population. Peru Amazon tours typically begin from one of two main gateways.
Up north, Iquitos serves as the launchpad for river cruises—a isolated city of around 500,000 residents with no road connections to the outside world. To the south, Puerto Maldonado functions as the hub for jungle lodges, positioned 183 m above sea level at the junction of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers.
Up north, cruises depart from Nauta (95 km from Iquitos airport), near where the Marañón and Ucayali form the Amazon River in Peru. Ships explore the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, a 20,800 km² flooded forest protected since 1982. Options include the Aria Amazon Cruise (32 guests) and the Delfin Amazon Cruise (on the 4-suite Delfin I or 22-suite Delfin III), both offering sightings of pink river dolphins.
In the south, the Tambopata National Reserve protects 274,690 ha of lowland forest. Here, lodge-based Amazon rainforest tours in Peru include Posada Amazonas—owned by Infierno’s Ese Eja community, 2 hours from Puerto Maldonado, with a 40 m canopy tower and giant otters on Tres Chimbadas Lake—and Tambopata Research Center, 3.5–4 hours upriver in the protected core by a massive macaw clay lick, hosting up to 7 guests per guide.
Both regions remain warm year-round, with average temperatures of 27°C (81°F) in Iquitos and 26°C (79°F) in Puerto Maldonado. The northern rivers rise 4–7 m from November to June, while southern lodges observe a dry season from March to November. A 30-minute flight connects Puerto Maldonado to Cusco, simplifying Andean combinations. Alternatively, our 7-day Machu Picchu and Amazon tour travels overland from Tambopata across a 4,750 m pass to the Sacred Valley.
