FAQ

Reviews

“We loved every minute of it we spent at Anavilhanas. Everything was just perfect. The support we got from PlanetaExo was 5–stars! From the first contact until we left the Amazonas. Highly recommended!”

— Alex

“The Anavilhanas Lodge is great. Wonderful location in the middle of the rainforest, exciting excursions, delicious food and super friendly staff. Those who want to get to know the rainforest without giving up comfort and a lovely atmosphere are in the best hands here.”

— Marko

“We were here for 5 days and enjoyed the Rio Negro region. There are few animal sightings here, because due to the pH value of the Rio Negro some animals don't feel at home here. But otherwise everything was great, very friendly and professional staff. Swimming in the Rio Negro is possible at any time right by the lodge. The pictures here should give a good impression. A 100% recommendation!”

— Mats

“The ultimate comfort in the middle of the jungle. We spent 3 nights, 4 days there. The activities offered are varied, with fishing, jungle walks, and moments of contemplation. I would have liked a bit more physical activities, but I understand that they have to adapt to the greatest number of people. The food is also excellent.”

— Martin

“It was a trip of a lifetime. My friend Lindsay and I were so grateful to Leandro, Kenrick, Dr. Ramon, Douglas, and everyone else who helped make this a special experience. I learned so many things I never knew before and I will cherish all of the memories. If you express interest in anything, the guides are more than happy to tell you more. The day with Leandro was particularly magical. Dr. Ramon gave us a bonus history of Brazil lecture because we were asking him so many questions about the country, and it was probably the best highlight of our entire two week trip to Brazil. You learn so many secrets when you're here, like the fact there are almost zero mosquitos - instead of mosquitos they have butterflies. Cassava is actually the same plant as yuca, but it's prepared in so many different ways. Douglas was manning the gate to the property, but he was not phased at all when I showed up randomly trying to take pictures of birds (there was a cecropia tree near the entrance that the toucans and tanagers were visiting habitually), and so spending time with Douglas ended up being another highlight. He was showing me all kinds of things just around the guard station: iguanas, monkeys, trogons, etc.”

— Seth

“Everything is magnificent: the rooms, the lobby, the restaurant, the pools... The food is excellent, with lots of different choices every day. The activities are varied and the guides are lovely; they all speak English extremely well and sometimes even French. Everything was perfect, we hope to be able to come back one day.”

— Alicia

“Incredible experience: guides, services, and resort are top-notch in the middle of nature. Very good atmosphere: attentive staff who speak English very well. Very good food as well. I would gladly come back. The activities are carefully thought out.”

— Julie

“The Rio Negro is a special experience. Its black surface makes incredible reflections. Everything activity begins with the river, where all you see is nature. Wide expanses of water, river edge grasses and mangroves, the jungle beyond, and huge cumulus clouds are a joy to experience. Do all the activities. The guides have indigenous backgrounds, love their environment, and make the activities easy and fun, worthwhile experiences. The lodging, the dining building, the reception area and the docks are all designed to enhance the environment and are well maintained.”

— Lance

“Anavilhanas was absolutely delightful - super comfortable, with charming and helpful staff, utterly delicious food and, in my case, four days of eye-opening nature experiences. As a confirmed city-dweller nature can sometimes seem rather alien and I am truly grateful to the guides for passing on their knowledge of customs and wildlife. Their respectful empathy with local people was very noticeable. I feel that I am returning home a different person from the one who arrived at Anavilhanas a few days ago.”

— Kate

“This must be the best way to see the Amazon. The Lodge is beautiful and the rooms are exceptional. We had a cottage with a super comfortable bed, outdoor/ indoor shower (it is covered with glass so you get daylight and a jungle view) There is a deck with a hammock protected by mosquito screens. You are given a list of activities for each day of your stay. You don't have to do them, but as they are already set up, all you have to do is turn up on time. Every guide we had was exceptional. Their knowledge and enthusiasm ensured we got the best experience. All the staff were polite, helpful and happy. I believe they work more as a family and genuinely want you to enjoy every minute of your stay. Even the gardeners and maintenance guys smile and greet you. It was marvellous. Then there is the wonderful food. Breakfast, three course lunch, three course dinner. Different choices every day of local dishes and more international styles. The desserts were my favorites. There are few mosquitoes on the river because of the acidity of the water. However, the Jungle is full of them and when it rains they come out in force. So long trousers, long sleeves, closed in shoes and plenty of repellent. They can get through your shirt, so don't take any chances. They even got my neck, ears and all over my hands. Best repellent is called Off, they have some at the lodge. There are plenty of seating areas with fans for you to relax and a nice pool. A floating bar down by the river. You will be on a boat to access every activity, you have a life vest. There are steps down to the boats and some of the activities involve walking up some slopes. I am 66, reasonably fit and none of it was a problem for me. We felt very privileged to be there, to see the Amazon and be part of it's regeneration by contributing in a small way. It is definitely one of the best things we have ever done.”
