Juma Amazon Lodge: 5-Day Jungle Tour from Manaus

Amazon
4 Nights·5 Days

Overview

Juma Amazon Lodge sits deep in the Brazilian Amazon, about 100 km southeast of Manaus, the capital of Amazonas. This 5-day jungle lodge tour from Manaus fills your days with forest hikes, night boat safaris, wildlife watching, canoeing, and piranha fishing, all led by experienced local guides who read the forest like a map.

This Amazon jungle lodge is comfortable and fully integrated into nature, with 20 bungalows built on stilts and nestled in the treetops. Set in a preserved, secluded stretch of rainforest, it splits its rooms between forest and river views, so you wake with the canopy or the Juma River at your window.

  • Full itinerary: forest hikes, night boat safaris, wildlife watching, canoeing, tree planting, a community visit, and piranha fishing.
  • Plant native trees in the lodge’s reforestation program and help protect the largest rainforest on Earth.
  • Wildlife watching by day and night: caimans on the river, monkeys, frogs, and hundreds of bird species.
  • Visit a caboclo family to experience everyday Amazonian community life.
  • Comfortable stilt bungalows at Juma Amazon Lodge, plus a river pool and 31-meter observation towers.
  • Activities guided by experienced, English-speaking local guides.

FAQ

Reviews

“Well organised Excellent organisation and friendly service throughout. Whenever we had questions, they were promptly answered in English. The Amazon experience was outstanding and the excursions from relaxing and tranquil to highly adventurous. Just the way we like it!”

— Franien

“Amazing experience with the family. Juma lodge is situated far into the Juma river, just under three hours from Manaus with boat, van and boat again. The trip into the Amazon itself is an adventure, and Juma lodge provided for everything. Really professional and safe. At Juma, they have 17 bungalows on stilts, with stilted walkways in between. You walk in the ‘’air’’, and pending on the season there is water up to the walkways. The river can differentiate 15 m in height based on the season. In January, the water was low but still a very beautiful place. The swimming pool is just amazing, a must experience. Our english speaking guide, Nelson, is absolutely fantastic. He learned us alot, and he really was amazing with the kids. All the activities was great, and we found alot of animals together with Nelson. This is definitely the best lodge, and I cannot recommend it enough. We are Norwegians, and have lived in Beazil for two years. If coming back to Amazon, we will for sure stay here again. Food was also 10/10.”

— Elin Hellvik

“Have just completed a 4night/5day Amazon Jungle experience through PlanetaExo. Our liason was great with keeping us informed and getting us ready! We had an amazing time at the Lodge and everything was coordinated perfectly. The experience at the Lodge was excellent for our first time in the Amazon - there was a great balance of time on the water, in the jungle, learning, adventuring and relaxing. The guides at the Lodge were fabulous, food was great and our rooms were just right. Highly recommend.”

“The hotel and bungalows are connected by walkways and located on stilts, and so the forest floor where it is located has free passage for local fauna, only with visual contact with tourists. The bungalow I occupied was large and spacious with air conditioning and ceiling fans, balcony with blindex door and with hammocks to enjoy the sunset facing the river Juma, The sanitary facilities are new and in perfect operation, with shower (sauna type) with hot/cold water and packaging (following the concepts of sustainability) with liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner in "self service" model, to avoid wastage and plastic packaging, but with high quality products. My bungalow had a king size bed and two single beds. In the food, the hotel restaurant is sheltered and facing the river, and in addition to breakfast with fruits, porridge, breads, tapioca and coffee, lunch was common to guests and composed of delicious food, at least with meat first and Amazonian fish in addition to the usual garnishes. During lunch the guest is presented with the menu of the day’s dinner, and he chooses the starter, main course and dessert that will be served at the beginning of the evening. Always cold drinks and perfect service at any meal. In addition, the hotel has a swimming pool of running water of the river Juma, with enclosed deck and bottom "cage" with safety screen, counting with local bar and sun loungers and towels. The hotel also has ecological tours (walks - longer and shorter), canoeing and tree treading, in addition to being scheduled fishing of the large tucunarés açus and, pirarucus. I myself, in previous visits have already captuted tucunarés of more than 9 kgs and a small pirarucu with lots of adrenaline and security. The guides are very competent and knowledgeable of the region, bringing guests with the local environment, safely and teaching knowledge about Amazonian fauna and flora.”

“The hotel is set in a simply wonderful area. It’s rustic, but with comfort appropriate to the type of experience. Impeccable service from the entire team. The tours and activities give us a good idea of Amazonian life. The cuisine is more basic, without sophistication, but very typical local, and all very tasty. As they are very isolated and depend on the boat to bring supplies from far away, at times it can be difficult to meet special requests. In the dry season, as we were, it may be a little difficult access for people with some difficulty of locomotion because there are many stairs and very high. As all tours and activities are carried out by the river, there is a need to go down and up stairs several times a day. At the time of flood, as the level of the river rises well, should be easier access. Before you go, you must understand that you will be in the middle of the Amazon jungle with all its peculiarities. In our case, we enjoyed the hotel and the whole experience too much, and we think it exceeded our expectations.”

— Ana Lucia Villaça

“An excellent hotel for those who seek contact with nature, all the staff very receptive, attentive and committed, but especially our guide Leon that made the trip IMPECCABLE, had a lot of knowledge about everything and besides that made us enjoy the moment and take advantage of it! Very respectful, charismatic, patient and left us very much the will (also is polyglot) recommend for all types of age. The wonderful food, many options, both regional things and "normal" things”

— Marina

“Hotel located in the middle of the forest, which allows an indescribable experience. Welcoming environment, with all helpful staff, kind and attentive. Guided tours by the guide with great professionalism and at the same time with the impression of being related to a friend. The boatman also deserves attention. I appreciate all the hospitality, affection and welcome with me and my family.”

— Priscilla Abreu

“Great hotel for those looking for rustic accommodations. excellent food, great guides, wonderful staff. Well planned tours with explanation and very fun and detailed guidance of the guide and his assistant. accommodation reasonable, but well characteristic of jungle hotel.”

— Noemia

“Very beautiful complex in the middle of the Amazon half a day to access it and arrive in a paradise in the middle of the Amazon. Cozy bedroom in the trees. Activities such as sunset, walk in the jungle, meeting of the two rivers, evening boat for the caimans.”

— Ricco

“I stayed for 4 nights, with my two children (8 and 10 years old). And everything far exceeded my expectations! It’s a wonderful place, with super clean, cozy rooms, tasty food, and amazing tours…. All done in a super integrated way with nature! And the most attentive and happy staff I have ever encountered in a hotel! Our guides were wonderful and did everything with great joy and safety! Hope to be able to come back often!!!”
