Itinerary

Day 1

Surf Fundamentals on the Sand / First Waves in the Whitewater / Video Seminar

  • Surf lesson· ~3 hours at the beach, a single in-water session of ~2h20 · Small same-level group
  • Beach transfer· 7 AM from the surfing school’s HQ to the day’s beach and back
  • Video seminar· ~1 to 1.5 hours of analysis, right after the lesson

Your first day at the Itacaré surf school starts on the beach, usually Engenhoca, which has good, gentle waves almost every day of the year. On the sand, your instructor reviews safety protocols and core techniques. Through step-by-step dryland drills, you will practice board positioning, paddling, sitting balance, and the pop-up transition.

Then paddle into the foam to catch whitewater waves, feel the board’s speed, and stand up. Afterwards, a video seminar reviews your session in slow motion to evaluate technique and set Day 2 goals.

Jagged dark rocks frame a cove at the itacaré surf school coastline, with turquoise waves rolling toward a sandy beach beneath a forest-covered headland and clear blue sky

Day 2

Pop-up and Control in the Foam / Reading the Ocean / Video Seminar

  • Surf lesson· ~3 hours at the beach, ~2h20 in the water · Small same-level group
  • Warm-up and drills· Biomechanics and pop-up practice on the sand
  • Video seminar· Slow-motion analysis and goals for the next day

Day 2 of surf camp in Itacaré drills the pop-up until it becomes automatic. Repeat the movement on the sand, then take it back into the whitewater to ride longer and start steering the board instead of only going straight. The instructor is in the water with you throughout, so corrections happen wave by wave.

The seminar also covers the theory that makes you independent: how waves form, tides and currents, the parts of a wave, and the safety rules of a lineup. This is the groundwork for moving from the foam to the open water later in the course.

Two surfers carrying yellow surfboards cross a shallow stream at a tropical beach framed by palm trees and dense Atlantic Forest hillside, part of an itacaré surf school session
A woman in a green rash guard rides a small green wave on a blue longboard at an itacaré surf school session, with a rocky, vegetation-covered headland in the background.

Rocky tidal shelf and a sheltered cove along the Itacaré surf school coastline, with dense Atlantic Forest and palm trees crowning a jutting headland under a clear blue sky

Day 3

Paddling Out to the Peak / Catching Green Waves / Video Seminar

  • Surf lesson· ~3 hours at the beach, ~2h20 in the water · Small same-level group
  • Positioning· Reading the peak, paddling out and timing the wave
  • Video seminar· Slow-motion analysis and goals for the next day

By Day 3 of surf school in Itacaré, most students are ready to move from the inside to the outside, where the waves have not broken yet. You will focus on paddling past the break, positioning on the peak, selecting waves, and catching them early to ride smooth, green waves. Since everyone progresses differently, your instructor will guide you to waves matching your skill level daily.

Depending on swell and tide, the lesson may move to another beach within about 20 km of Itacaré, such as Prainha, Jeribucaçu, Pontal, Boca da Barra, or Itacarézinho. The seminar afterwards focuses on your timing and positioning on the outside.

Day 4

Linking It All Together / Consolidation and Photo Session / Course Wrap-up

  • Surf lesson· ~3 hours at the beach, ~2h20 in the water · Small same-level group
  • Photo & video session· Courtesy photos and clips of your best waves
  • Course wrap-up· Progress review and next steps with your instructor

The last day is about putting the whole sequence together: paddle out, read the wave, pop up, and ride consciously instead of by instinct. The method is built to get most beginners riding their first outside waves within four lessons, so the final day is usually where the week’s work clicks. Your instructor fine-tunes the details and leaves you with a plan to keep improving on your own.

A professional cameraman joins the session to record your best waves, providing you with high-quality media of your surf lessons in Itacaré. For those staying through Saturday, this specialized photo session takes the place of the afternoon video-analysis seminar.

“Amazing surf school for all ages. I went from Zero to surfing at the age of 52, I came with my 10 year old son, we had such a wonderful experience... They all speak english, they have so much patience, each and every one of the instructors was super nice and professional. They have professional photographers and you get to have documented memories along with the real ones. Thanks for this wonderful experience I wish I could give you 10 stars”

“I absolutely loved this surf school! The instructors were incredibly friendly and at the same time super professional. You can really feel that they care about helping each student improve. I especially liked the video review sessions after each day – they really help you see your mistakes and progress faster. The nature around is just stunning, and every day in the water felt like a new little adventure. On the last day, when it was time to leave the surf camp, I felt just like a kid again – that same bittersweet feeling when you have to leave summer camp. Huge thanks to the whole team – you guys are amazing! 🤙🏼❤️”

— Dalia Jiev

“We enjoyed our time with the EasyDrop surf school a lot! The coaches are professional and friendly, also, they speak English really well. I am definitely coming back some day!”
